Summer Festival at Grünstraße Secondary School

Summer Festival at Grünstraße Secondary School

Bright sunshine, cheerful guests and a lively schoolyard: Last Friday, September 18, Realschule Grünstraße celebrated a very special event.

For the first time, our school hosted a summer festival – and it exceeded all expectations. Students from all year groups, the entire teaching staff, as well as numerous parents, neighbours and former members of the school community came together to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon.

The vibrant school community truly embodied the school’s guiding principles: Live, Learn, Take Responsibility.

A Varied Programme for All Ages

The entire school grounds were filled with activity and excitement. The individual classes had contributed creatively in the run-up to the event and put together a varied programme:

Activities such as tin-can throwing, a football throwing and shooting wall, a games course, a bouncy castle, face painting and glitter tattoos provided plenty of fun and entertainment for visitors of all ages.

A particular highlight that tested both tactics and reaction skills was the popular boxing machine, where young and old could put their strength to the test.

A Culinary Journey Around the World

The festival also offered a wide variety of culinary delights. Alongside traditional school festival favourites such as freshly made waffles, homemade cakes and muffins, international specialities provided a taste of the diverse backgrounds represented within our school community. Two lemonade stands offered refreshing drinks to quench visitors’ thirst.

A Place to Meet and Reconnect

Alongside all the activities, the festival was above all about coming together. It provided a wonderful setting for engaging conversations between teachers, parents and neighbours. Many former students also took the opportunity to return to their old school and share memories with one another.

“We are absolutely delighted by the tremendous response and the fantastic support from the entire school community and our neighbours,” said Principal Ms Osman, summing up the event on a very positive note.

After this successful gathering in beautiful late-summer weather, one thing is clear:
The festival was a successful premiere in this format – and definitely deserves to become a recurring event.
