Always a visit at the Koepchenwerk

As in previous years, an interested MINT group visited the historic pumped-storage power plant Koepchenwerk in Herdecke.

This almost 100-year-old technology is still highly relevant today for balancing frequency fluctuations in the power grid. The students were able to explore the nearly fully preserved machinery and learned important details about how a pumped-storage power plant works.
